THE JUDGES
Myrl Schreibman, Producer/Director: UCLA Professor of Film and Television, author of “THE INDIE PRODUCERS HANDBOOK, Creative Producing from A-Z” and “THE FILM DIRECTOR PREPARES, A Practical Guide to Directing Film and Television”. Schreibman is an award winning producer/director whose work has been seen on stage and the little and big screens for over 35 years. He currently offers an intensive two-day workshop in film directing patterned after his highly successful course in film directing at UCLA that has trained directors like Justin Linn (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS TOKYO DRIFT) to a successful film career.
Alan Hueth, with a MA in Film, TV and Radio (from SDSU) and a Ph.D. in Education, and Telly and Yammy award winner, Alan heads up Media Communications at Point Loma Nazarene University and has judged hundreds of BestFest entries in the past. His critical eye and filmmaking knowledge has been instrumental in BestFest improving its judging system and providing student filmmakers with meaningful feedback.
Lisa Merrill, screenwriter, director, producer of short films, past BestFest judge, having screened and critiqued hundreds of college and high school films.
Michael Gallagher, the most honored student filmmaker in BestFest America history (took home 4 first place awards in 2007) and won first place and audience choice awards numerous times for 48 Hours of Madness as writer, director and producer.
